Don't Try This At Home! Artist Draws 30 Self-Portraits On 30 Different Drugs
Performance artist, poet, and videographer, Bryan Lewis Saunders, told Wired magazine that he decided to draw a self-portrait of himself every day for the rest of his life so he could "die knowing that [he] tried to experience as much as possible when [he] was alive." He's created almost 10,000 self-portraits so far.
Not too long ago, he decided to take things a big step further by drawing his self portraits on drugs. In 30 days, Saunders took 30 different drugs - some legal, some not - and drew 30 different pictures of himself. While such an experiment is incredibly ill-advised, and we do not condone or advise it, it is fascinating to see the chemical and psychological effects caused by each substance through the ways in which they altered Saunders' self-perception.
