Ladies, Ordering This Shot At The Bar Could Save Your Life
Use this secret code to escape sketchy Tinder dates.
Ladies, we’ve all been on uncomfortable dates, but the next time you get seriously bad vibes from the guy you’re with, there’s a safe way out of the situation.
It’s called the “Angel Shot,” and it’s not an alcoholic beverage but a way to discreetly tell the bartender you need help.
We first heard about it in December when The Tampa Bay Times wrote about a Florida restaurant called The Iberian Rooster that had a sign in the women’s bathroom aimed at ladies in sketchy situations.
“Is your Tinder or Plenty of Fish date not who they said they were on their profile? Do you feel unsafe, or even just a tad bit weird?” the sign reads, encouraging women to order an Angel Shot in one of three ways if they answer yes to those questions.
If you order an angel shot neat, the Rooster’s bartenders will escort you to your vehicle. If you order it with ice, they’ll call you an Uber or Lyft. If you order the shot with lime, the bartender will straight up call the police.
every restaurant needs to have this in the women's restroom
The owner of The Rooster, Russell Andrade, said he got the idea from similar signs at bars in England that went viral on social media last year. Those signs told distressed women to “ask for Angela.”
i saw this in a toilet and thought it was important and should be a thing everywhere not just lincolnshire !!!!
Since then, a number of bars in different countries have taken part in the “Angel Shot” phenomenon. This Hooter’s in South Africa is one of them:
Although, as one Reddit user points out, if you’re on a date at Hooter’s, chances are your night is already going poorly.
Last year, one in five women reported that they had been sexually assaulted at some point in their life. The Angel Shot is a good reminder that we shouldn’t be afraid to come forward if we think we’re in a potentially harmful situation.
