Art Banksy Knitting Street-art World

If Banksy could knit, this is what it would look like.

Summer may be over, but color is popping up everywhere thanks to a global guerrilla knitting trend, also known as yarn-bombing. Artists are taking to city streets to create vibrant, crochet installations that bring a new beauty to street art.

While knitting is typically reserved for interior design, these yarn-bombing projects bring unexpected texture to street art. It’s a fresh take on graffiti, and obviously the best part is that it’s perfect for Instagram.

Artist Raquel Rodrigo’s knitting installations in Madrid recently received a ton of buzz. She embellished walls, buildings and arches all over the city with large-scale, embroidered flowers. Using thick rope-like string and wire mesh, her patterns add pops of color to create a summery vibe.

The knitting trend has made its way around the world and is, of course, all over Instagram.

Here’s a bike in Wasserburg am Inn, Germany covered in colorful yarn.

This building in Umeâ, Sweden is decked out in radiant fibers.

These hanging crochet projects in Skipton, England add a gorgeous touch to a park.

Meanwhile, this bench in Tel Aviv, Israel invites us to relax.

One of the trend’s most important projects might just be in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Which yarn-bomb installation is your favorite?
