AirBnb Just Upped The Game & Globetrotters Will Love It
Don’t just sleep like a local—live like one, too.
Airbnb has already revolutionized the way you book a room for vacation with their “Don’t go there. Live there” philosophy. Then they added city-specific recommendations with their Guidebooks feature. And now they’re expanding that idea to help you plan your vacation activities, as well.
The company officially purchased the Barcelona-based startup Trip4Real to expand their “live there” vacation offerings to include activities like authentic Spanish cooking classes, off-the-beaten-path walking tours of Lisbon, a shopping spree in Rome’s best vintage stores and local pub crawls in Dublin.
All the activities are led by locals and aim to give you an insider view of the city that larger tourist agencies just can’t compete with. Each activity listing, like Airbnb housing listings, includes details about the host, itinerary, languages spoken, number of participants, what’s included in the price, and reviews from other tourists.
An Airbnb representative confirmed the purchase (though they currently still operate as separate sites), saying, “We are delighted to welcome [them] to the Airbnb family, [they] share our vision of a different kind of travel experience that is local and authentic.”
So after you book your adorable Parisian apartment (complete with breakfast balcony and Eiffel Tower view), why not tack on a dreamy bike ride through Parisian gardens, as well?
