Kylie Simonds is no ordinary 11-year-old.
For one thing, she has had to battle rhabdomyosarcoma since she was diagnosed three years ago. It's a type of connective tissue cancer that has caused her to have to spend a good deal of her childhood struggling with unthinkable realities.
It's also what pushed her to invent something really incredible.
While battling cancer, Kylie always had to drag around a huge IV-machine while she was undergoing chemotherapy or transfusions.

This is where she came up with the idea for a portable backpack, complete with IV connection, for kids battling cancer.

While Kylie originally invented the backpack with two friends in mind who were also battling cancer, the idea has expanded so it can be sold to many kids in need.

She entered the bag in an invention convention and it won several awards. We think they were well deserved!
