When trains warn you to "Mind the gap!" they really mean it. It was almost too late for this man from Perth, but luckily his fellow commuters came to his rescue, just in the nick of time!
An Australian resident from Perth became stuck between a train and the platform at Stirling station.
David Hynes (Transport spokesperson) told the news: “He stood in the doorway and as he was sort of taking up his position there, one leg slipped outside the door, slipped outside the gap, and he was stuck.â€
Luckily the driver was alerted and the train didn’t move.
Almost immediately, fellow commuters rushed to his aid and attempted to use their collective strength to push the train over to help the man remove his leg.
Hynes stated that the passengers were asked to deboard the train and then “organized them to sort of rock, tilt the train backwards away from the platform, so they were able to get him out and rescue him.â€
It required a total of two pushes before the man’s leg was freed.
An ambulance was called but luckily he had no serious injuries.
The applause that followed after the passengers’ efforts was truly astonishing and a huge relief for them all.
Hopefully, next time this man is more cautious of where he’s stepping, when getting off of the train.
