John Dolan was homeless. He'd lost his money to drugs and was at an all-time low. But when an unexpected friend came into his life, everything began to change.
George the Bull Terrior came into John Dolan's life when he was 43 years old.
A fellow homeless person gave George to Dolan and the two became fast friends.
Dolan couldn't handle the idea of losing George if he went to prison again, something he'd dealt with in the past due to his affliction with drug addiction. So he started begging for change in order to turn things around, and selling pictures he drew of George.
And the pictures were absolutely INCREDIBLE.
But Dolan was talented beyond just drawing his dog. He started selling all kinds of art around town.
Dolan was selling pictures for years when one day, things changed.
He was approached by a gallery director named Richard Howard-Griffin.
Howard-Griffin worked with Dolan and helped him put on his first art show displaying his own work.
Dolan's first show was a huge hit, and completely sold out.
He already has a second show in the works which he set up with the help of Howard-Griffin.
He used to sell his pictures for pocket change... but now they're selling at several thousand dollars a piece!
Said Dolan, in an interview with The Guardian, about George: "I feel like he's my guardian angel. If it hadn't been for him I'd have never picked up my pen."
