You may have seem some strange museums in your day, perhaps an over-the-top modern art museum or an outrageous science museum here or there, but you have probably NEVER seen anything as strange as what they have to offer over in Tokyo, Japan.
Toilet!? Human Waste and Earth's Future is exactly what it advertises: a museum dedicated to toilets and to the world of human excretion. It sounds gross, and perhaps it is a bit. But it's actually pretty educational and, dare I say it? Kind of adorable.
Here's some literature advertising the museum.
Whether or not you can read Japanese characters you can pick up the gist here pretty quickly. This museum has a pretty strong poop vibe.
Feast your eyes on the gigantic toilet slide, one of the popular parts of the grand exhibit.
It comes complete with little poop hats for participants tow wear.
Small children (and not-so-small children) get a big kick out of the slide.
Who wouldn't have fun here?
Just try not to concentrate too hard on your surroundings while you slide...
There's no shortage of interesting characters giving you informative tidbits while you walk around the museum.
There are unique displays all over the museum.
It is, at its core, an educational forum.
There are many different venues to learn about all different kinds of excretion...
...even ones that come from creatures very different from us!
And what's a museum without a little arts and crafts section for the youngsters?
So if you're looking for a super weird but somewhat educational and DEFINITELY one of a kind experience, give this museum a try next time you're in Japan.
Oh and don't mind the song that the toilets sing to you when they bid you adieu at the end of your visit. WHAT.
