8 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Kylie Jenner On Handling Haters

by N/A, 9 years ago | 1 min read

Girl is a pro at dealing with hate.

Celebrities hollywood kardashians

Kylie Jenner is on top of the world these days. She's the queen of Snapchat, knows the secret to good Ramen, and is gradually becoming a big deal in the beauty world by expanding her lipstick empire.

But just because she was born into a famous family doesn't mean all things have come easy. The reality TV queen has been open about being bullied since age nine. She's had to deal with a lot of hate that comes with her name, but over the years she's learned how to just deal with it. Here are eight lessons from Kylie that we can all learn from when it comes to dealing with haters like a boss.

1. Don't let anyone keep you from doing what you want

When fans complained Kylie's Snapchat videos were too long, she had the perfect response: "So don't watch them." Clearly, she's going to Snapchat the way she wants. So you better love staring at her face in different filters for 15 minutes, dammit.

2. Put the joke on your haters

When people called Kylie "fake" on Twitter, she responded by wearing a sweatshirt with the word "Fake" on it, to not only show she didn't care what people were saying, but to put the joke on them. #Savage.

3. Don't forget to take responsibility for your mistakes

When Kylie's makeup company was in hot water for poor quality and underpaid workers, rather than ignore the criticism for a serious situation like this, she admitted that she was still learning.

"I'm continuing to learn and I just want to make everyone happy," she wrote on her app. "Because so many of you spoke out, I'm excited to tell you that the Better Business Bureau has looked at the facts and changed the rating."

4. Know when to tune out the drama

There was a ton of media drama surrounding Kylie and her sister-in-law-to-be, Blac Chyna, who also happens to be the ex of Kylie's boyfriend, Tyga. Obvs., that's a very messy situation, and while they threw some shade at one other on social media, Kylie pulled one out of left field posting a picture of the two hanging out. When you rise above the drama, you silence the haters.

5. Lean on your friends and family who support you no matter what

Say what you want about the Kardashians, but his family is extremely tight knit—so much, they'll often get involved in Twitter wars to stand up for each other. Having a core group of people that support you, whether it's friends or family, is way more important than being insulted by people you barely know.

6. Laugh at yourself a little and don't take criticism too seriously

One of the best things Kylie has done is post this hilariously awkward/awesome Instagram of her new lips with angel wings attached. Of course, she was shy about her lip fillers in the past, but now she's fully acknowledging them and even having a little laugh at herself.

7. Spread positivity

Kylie launched an anti-bullying campaign on Instagram called #IAmMoreThan to encourage positivity and stop spreading hate.

Kylie told Adweek: "Being a young socialite on the internet comes with a lot of bullying and a lot of different opinions that have affected me throughout the years. So I just kind of turned to real people with real issues way bigger issues than me who are so positive. It just inspires me and I wanted to share it with my fans."

8. Sometimes (ok, mostly) the "clap back" isn't even worth it

Kylie took to her app to encourage people in whatever situation they were in, to avoid "clapping back" at drama AKA, giving your two sense to defend yourself. Know when to stand up for yourself of course, but tune out the negative and take an epic Snapchat instead.
