17 Weird And Wonderful Looks From Lollapalooza 2016
So, apparently bucket hats are cool.
Lollapalooza always brings out quite the crowd. People get just as excited to show off their outfits as they are to hear their favorite bands perform while experiencing the sweeping views of the Chicago skyline. However, as opposed to festivals like Coachella, people don't take their outfits too seriously. When it comes to Lolla, the only rule is to have fun.
This year, the four-day long festival featured some definitive trends. From bucket hats to lilac hair and a large amount of American pride, the festival boasted some interesting looks that were either throwbacks or totally innovative. Here are some of the trends we noticed after attending all four days of the festival!
1. Button-downs and body chains

Unbuttoned button-downs were worn by 80% of the male population, while body chains and braids were a hit with the ladies.
2. The 90s were everywhere, which meant chokers and dark lipstick

Long live tattoo chokers.
3. Bucket hats, bucket hats and more bucket hats

Every bro had one of these early '00s staple on top of his head. The more obnoxious the print, the better.
4. Flower crowns and fanny packs = festival staples

Honestly, if you weren't wearing a fanny pack at Lolla you weren't really "in the know." We talked to a handful of ladies and gents who said fanny packs are "cool," especially because you can get them in different patters and textures.
5. More '90s: Velvet, pom-poms and colorful sunglasses

6. Dressing up as your favorite superhero

Clearly he's just looking for his Mary Jane.
7. Bandanas

This guy was just chillin' and lovin' life in his bandana.
8. Patriotic themes

It was all about 'Murica at Lolla—from flags to hats to bandanas.

9. Bodysuits

Often worn with high-waisted skirts or shorts.
10. Athleisure with pops of color

Sweats, tank tops, jerseys and tennis shoes. Adding pops of color definitely made the trend more festival-friendly.
11. Overall jumpsuits

12. Lilac hair

13. Lace

Whether it's black or pastel, lace can be pulled off in multiple styles.
14. Sequined bras

TBH, we all need more sparkle in our lives.
15. Pokemon-themed fashion

Because of course.
16. Thong song

Ripped, low-rise denim plus showing off a thong is a trend I never thought would come back again, but here we are.
17. Tie-dye

The 70s are on their way back and YES, I'm excited about it.
