President Barbie's Running Mate Is Every Feminist's Dream
Ken is totally out of the picture, and we're not mad.
Barbie is moving up the ranks, and it's about GD time. While Mattel has made presidential candidate Barbies since 1992, their newest addition is just what the world needs now that we're about to have our first female president—an all-female ticket to the White House. (YASSSS)
Mattel just launched President and Vice President Barbie dolls to "inspire girls to become leaders."
In partnership with She Should Run, this Barbie career line is meant to inspire young girls to take on leadership roles. This is a huge step in shaping young girl's identities from an early age, which is important in developing self-confidence. And what better way to do that with two ladies in the (hypothetical) White House?
"The President and Vice President dolls continue our efforts to expose girls to inspiring careers that are underrepresented by women," General Manager and Senior Vice President, Barbie, Lisa McKnight said in a press release. "We see this doll set as a timely and topical platform to further the conversation around female leadership. We are proud to partner with She Should Run to help elevate its message and show girls that they can be and do anything."
Barbie POTUS and VPOTUS come in a variety of hair colors, skin tones and face shapes.
The Barbies are available online in a two pack for $24.99, and will soon be sold in stores nationwide.
This great news comes six months after Mattel introduced Barbies in tall, curvy and petite body types to celebrate body confidence.
It's time to focus on careers, body confidence and females taking over the world.
