Liverpool Now Has Fast Walking Lanes & The Rest Of The World Should, Too
Lace up those sneaks and power walk on over there.
Liverpool is the first city to open a "fast track" for speedy walkers.
For those of us with super packed schedules and/or a tendency to be late to everything, walking quickly is an absolute must. That's why it's so infuriating when you get stuck on a crowded sidewalk behind a damn slowpoke, shuffling along at a casual mosey. How dare they window shop when you obviously have places to be?! We will not stand for it!
And neither will the city of Liverpool, UK. That's right, the home of The Beatles just became the first city to open a fast lane for pedestrians on a mission in their downtown shopping district. The decision came after researchers found that 47% of Brits found slow walkers to be the most annoying part of high-street shopping. Because what's good for shopping is good for the economy, Liverpool was quick to act. Although not all of its citizens are keen on the change: while 69% of people ages 16-24 favored the fast lanes, only 37% of people 55 and up were fans.
Well move over, Grandma there's a new speed-walking sheriff in town!
