Here's How Gordon Ramsay Made As Much As Beyoncé Last Year
When we were kids, we were always asked what we wanted to be when we grow up. Most of us said we wanted to be actors, doctors, or even internationally-acclaimed superstars like Beyonce (I’m still holding out on that dream).
Other kids said they wanted to be chefs, but not just any chef — a sweaty, swearing chef who barks orders at a line of bumbling cooks who suddenly forget how to cook risotto. This is the career dreams are made of.
On the surface, Beyonce and Gordon Ramsay couldn't be any more different. In 2016, however, both of their careers earned them a hefty $54 million.
Forbes ranked the world’s highest paid celebrities and tying at number 34 are Beyonce Knowles and Gordon Ramsay.
The majority of Ramsay's earnings came from his gigs on three Fox reality TV shows.
Gordon Ramsay stars as a judge on the biggest home cooking competitions — Masterchef and Masterchef: Junior. He also appears as his adorable, rude self on the show Hell’s Kitchen. The chef also has a very addictive mobile app named Gordon Ramsay DASH, developed by the same people who brought us Kim Kardashian’s lifestyle simulator app.
He also has 30 restaurants and six Michelin stars under his belt, on top of everything he’s doing on television. Workaholic much?
His business-savvy actually puts him slightly ahead of Kim Kardashian at number 42.
Both Ramsay and Knowles ranked ahead of Jay-Z, who reportedly earned $53.5 million.
Oh! And here's another thing both Beyonce and Ramsay have in common: they both experienced a bit of a financial setback this year.
Beyonce ranked 29th on the Forbes list last year, and Ramsay was at the 22nd.
It comes as no surprise to anyone, though, that they earned all that because they worked. Hard.
Get some rest, you two. Spa day is on me.
