Chinese Student Tired Of Roommates’ Smoking Builds Genius Air Freshener
Now this is a real lesson in resourcefulness.
It's common knowledge that China has a major air pollution problem. There are days when it's inadvisable for citizens to go outside of their homes because of alarming API (Air Pollution Index) levels.
Things are only getting worse: this year's API (so far) is higher than it was late last year.
Many people are forced to stay inside when smog levels soar. That isn't an option for this Chinese student, who has his own air problem to battle in his dorm room.
According to Shanghai Daily, the poor guy is the only non-smoker in a dorm room full of smokers.
Desperate for fresh air, he came up with a device to make things a little better.
Using a cardboard box, trash bags and a small fan, he created an air duct that helps him get air from the less smoky hallway.
Here's his lifeline clipped to the top of his doorframe.
A the other end of his apparatus is his "helmet." The front side of his helmet, which allows him to see from inside the cardboard box, is just as impressive.
He even posted a diagram of his invention for those who were curious.
Maybe he wants to help other people who share the same struggle?
The students posts have since gone viral and garnered various reactions from netizens. Some shamed his roommates for smoking in an enclosed space, while others pity the guy's living conditions.
I'm pretty sure we all agree that this guy's a genius for producing something so elaborate!
