Zendaya & Zac Efron Could Be The Next Big Duet In New Musical
No, it's not a "High School Musical" revival, unfortunately.
No one does musicals quite like Zac Efron.
It's been ten years since we first fell in love with a shaggy-haired Troy Bolton singing "Get'cha Head in the Game." His baby blue eyes and impeccable dance moves on stage and on the basketball court definitely sparked your teenage sexual awakening.
After "High School Musical," Zac went on to do "Hairspray," proving he was capable of wearing many hats when it came to musicals. Lately, Zac has focused on just being an actor, with huge Hollywood hits like "Neighbors" and "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates"— but we've certainly missed Zac in his musical element.
If the musical gods answers our prayers though, we could be seeing Zac singing and dancing again very, very soon 🙌.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , Zendaya and Zac Efron are both in talks to join the cast of "The Greatest Showman on Earth" musical.
The musical is about American showman P.T. Barnum, the founder of the famous traveling circus Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. It's being billed as Hollywood's first original live-action film musical in two decades, which is pretty exciting.
Zac would portray a playwright who becomes P.T's right-hand man, and Zendaya would play a trapeze artist and Zac's love interest (ooooo! 😘)
It's definitely not "High School Musical 4," but how cool would it be if these two generations of Disney stars came together for a big-production musical?!
Hugh Jackman has been cast in the lead role of P.T. Barnum.
Michelle Williams is also in negotiations to play Hugh's love interest, opera singer Jenny Lind.
So, there's been no official casting news yet besides Hugh, but we have to say—Zac, Zendaya and Michelle all starring in the same movie together sounds like pure gold.
Zac and Zendaya have the magical Disney connection going on enough to make this musical awesome.
Plus, we all know that Zac pours a lot of passion into his musicals, hip-thrusting and all. #NeverForget.
Now when can we expect "HSM4?"
