Get Drunk In Space With This Boozy Dippin' Dots Recipe
OG Dippin' Dots are amazing. How about sneaking some booze in your amazing ice cream spheres? That would be totally awesome!
This is also a borderline genius idea to sneak alcohol on planes, and in space! Think about it, chilling and getting drunk in space is now possible — not that that's our priority, but come on!
We have incredible news!
Apparently, consuming alcohol nowadays comes in many different forms. Just drinking booze is boring, so some people have found new ways to get alcohol in our system.
Liquids are hard to consume in space, but with this invention, we don't need to worry about that any more.
So, this is your Dippin' Dots on a normal day.
The boozy version of Dippin' Dots is not too far from the original. It's just basically melted ice cream with booze, then bam!
The booze-infused dots are not that different looking from the classic Dippin' Dots. Basically, it just hides alcohol inside those innocent looking treats.
Invented by Brennan Adams, from A Bar these balls are called "Cryo-Spheres." The invention was first named Drinking Dots, but had to be changed after Adams received a trademark infringement letter from Dippin' Dots.
This is how they make these spheres of joy:
Pretty easy huh? In fact, there are lots of available DIY Cryo-Spheres recipes. You just need a booze-infused ice cream just like these recipes here to make the spheres on your own.
Just a warning, before you follow these DIY steps, please note that you will be using liquid nitrogen and it has a very low temperature and you need full caution in using it. Use gloves and masks while dealing with liquid nitrogen.
Ready?
These are the steps (from Gizmodo):
1. Pour some liquid nitrogen into a wide-mouthed container. Ideally, you use a tall, somewhat narrow metal container, as that will allow for larger batches. However, even a small styrofoam cup will do, as long as it can hold a few inches of liquid nitrogen.
2. Put your ice cream mixture (liquid) into a condiment container. You can get these for a couple bucks at any kitchen supply store.
3. Drip the ice cream mixture into the liquid nitrogen. You want to drip it nice and slowly and from a reasonable height so the beads separate and don't clump. Nobody wants dippin' dumps.
4. After a few minutes, fish the dots out of the container with a long-handled spoon or a strainer, and put them in a glass. DO NOT reach in there with your fingers.
5. This is important. The dots are far too cold to eat immediately. They will only stick to your lips and/or tongue and cause frost-bite; think licking a metal pole on a cold winter day. You have to let them warm up to where they're almost as soft as normal ice cream. The alcohol in them should help expedite this, but you should also stir the dots every minute or so to ensure even warming (they will warm from the outside in).
Done? Great. Now do this.
