Here's How To Block Your Parents From Snapchat
Because do you really want your mom seeing you do a keg stand?
Fact: parents love Snapchat rn.
My mom recently joined Snapchat, which brought a ton of flashbacks to when she added me on Facebook many moons ago and I freaked TF out. Adding a parent on social media is basically inviting them to your most private life, and no matter how close you are with them, there are some things your parents should just never see. (For me, it's my late night "twerking" videos when I'm under the influence.)
According to comScore, more and more parents are joining the app as it becomes more popular. In fact, 14 percent of users are over 35 now, whereas three years ago, it was just 2 percent. This just shows that Snapchat could very well become the next Facebook, especially with the new update that introduces Memories too.
In light of the 'rents joining Snapchat, here's how to block your Friends from viewing your story.
Tap the ghost (or your face) and hit the Settings wheel button in the top right corner. Scroll down to where it says "Who Can..." and hit "View My Story."
Once you're there, tap "Custom" and a list of your friends will come up. Then, just click on whichever friends you don't want viewing your story.
That's all, folks.
Your parents will never have to know about all the crazy antics you got into during a Saturday night out with the guy you met on Tinder. Of course, you'll still be able to send them individual snaps and they can snap you as well—but now you don't have to come up with some half-ass explanation about why you won't accept them as a friend and hurt their feelings.
If you think about it, everyone wins. Snap away.
