Pepsi Is Latest Company To Capitalize On Millennial Nostalgia
This is the best news since they decided overalls were back.
Oh, you haven't heard? 2016 started out pretty lame, so we're all just pretending it's the 90s again. Yep, another Clinton is running for President, we remade Full House with almost (eh hem, Olsen twins) all the original characters, grunge is back, and people are saying "dope" again. While I'm dusting off my Beanie Baby collection for display, companies are plotting ways to capitalize on the slammin' trend. What's the latest buzz-hype on the scene? Pepsi is bringing back a beloved fan-favorite from the beloved decade, and it's going to be off the heasy!
That's right! Crystal Pepsi, THE clear soda of 1992 is returning.
According to Thrillist, who taste-tested the returning pop, the flavor we remember may have changed slightly since it's original debut. Unlike the OG Crystal, this take will be caffeinated (because although we're all living in the past, caffeine is this generation's water). But one thing hasn't changed: it still doesn't taste the regular Pepsi.
So, here's the dillio: The resurrected cola will hit shelves nationwide on August 8th, but it won't be around for long. We'll get to experience sweet taste of caffeinated nostalgia for exactly eight weeks, before the pull the plug.
Not hyped enough yet? Please, allow us to refresh your memory on the true genius that was Crystal Pepsi and really the 90s in general. This incredible, yet ironic ad about being in the "right now" is truly DA BOMB .
