Ashley Graham Shuts Down Fat-Shamers With One Gorgeous Photo
#FreeTheCellulite
Even though just about every woman develops cellulite at some point in her life, it's still a physical attribute we address with shame. We look to creams, massages and salves to try to rid ourselves of the dreaded cottage-cheese demon, but nothing really works. Perhaps this is because cellulite is a natural part of the female body. Instead of trying to cover it up or rid ourselves of it, it's high time we learned to accept and own it. Sports Illustrated model, Ashley Graham, is doing just that.
On Wednesday, the full-bodied babe took to Instagram to show off her lady lumps.
With all the moxie of Sasha Fierce, Graham's picture showed her biking in a short dress, exposing her beautiful fleshy stems. Her caption read:
"A little cellulite never hurt nobody.. Stop judging yourself, embrace the things that society has called ugly. #lovetheskinyourein #beautybeyondsize"
This isn't the first time Graham fought against body-image standards.
In 2015, the Model gave a TED talk titled "Plus Size? More Like My Size" in Valencia, Spain. She spoke about body acceptance and flaunted her curves in front of a sold-out audience.
Graham was also part of a controversial Lane Bryant Ad.
The model was featured owning her physique in their #ThisBody commercial. NBC and ABC both refused to air the ad, claiming it doesn't comply with broadcast indecency guidelines, but that didn't stop it from going viral.
Don't let Ashley fight this alone. Join in to change the perception of body image.
The perfect, long-legged standard of beauty is harmful and unrealistic. We hope that more brave souls like Ashley step up to societal pressure and own their cellulite. Setting the tone for realistic body perceptions is the way to create change. #FreeTheCellulite #LoveTheSkinYoureIn #Beauty BeyondSize
