The Gorgeous Trailer For The New Zelda Game Will Silence All Haters
Saddle Up Epona and dust off your Master Sword. Link is back in his biggest adventure yet.
After years of teases, delays, and rampant speculation on forums and threads across the web, Nintendo has finally rewarded fans' stalwart patience with a stunning first look at the next installment in the Legend of Zelda canon.
I hope you brought an oxygen mask, because this is gonna take your breath away.
The trailer for the now officially titled "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," started Nintendo's live E3 broadcast off with a bang. For a while, Nintendo has been placating restless fans with promises of the most expansive Zelda game to date, and 'Breath of the Wild' certainly looks ready to deliver.
Just how massive is it? Well, Nintendo mentioned during the conference that the game world is an unprecedented 12 times larger than 2006's 'Twilight Princess,' and will emphasize exploration more than any other Zelda title before it.
Beyond that, the trailer showcases a multitude of distinct locales. Methinks it's gonna take more than feeding Epona a few carrots to traverse Hyrule's endless landscape this time around, but that's no problem. Fans will want to take in every inch of this gorgeously rendered world.
The art style perfectly blends the detail-driven look of "Twilight Princess" with "Windwaker's" distinct cel-shading.
Dynamic lighting and a vibrant color palette give the game a real Studio Ghibli kind of feel.
Naturally, everyone's favorite elven-eared hero is back, this time sporting a colorful new tunic.
Series purists will be happy to know that, while the trailer did feature a Na'Vi/Midna-esque voiceover, it seems that Link will remain his delightfully-mute self for the foreseeable future.
Because exploring a colossal world can be lonely work, Nintendo also announced that players will be able to use amiibo to unlock 'Twilight Princess's' Wolf Link as an in-game companion.
Just shut up and take my money already, Nintendo. I surrender.
While an exact date has yet to be announced, Nintendo did confirm the game's 2017 release for both the Wii U and the forthcoming Nintendo NX.
Given the hype around this game, 2017 sounds like an eternity away. Fortunately, players can already pre-order the Wii U edition of the game through Amazon or Best Buy.
