The Prettiest Princess On Instagram Isn't A Woman
Guys can be princesses, too.
Whether it was their gorgeous ball gowns or the timeless love stories that sparked your admiration, you probably dreamt of being a Disney princess at some point. As a young boy, Richard Schaefer idolized everyone's favorite mermaid, Ariel. He didn't let the fact that he's a male keep him from growing up to be her. His stunning recreations of the under the sea princess and all of her royal friends prove that dreams really do come true.
This is Richard Schaefer. He's a cosplayer who's a pretty big fan of Disney princesses.
That's pretty unsurprising, considering that he has gorgeous eyebrows, a perfect complexion and the doe eyes of our favorite fair maidens. He once worked as a skipper at Disneyland's Jungle Cruise attraction, according to PopSugar, but his love for Disney is less about adventures and more about glamour.
The 22-year-old Fullerton, California native has been transforming into Disney princesses for four years.
He was inspired to start doing cosplay because of how often people told him that he has an androgynous look.
Schaefer owns about 40 costumes and 30 different wigs that help him get into character.
He makes many of his own costumes and usually wears a corset and chest padding to create a more feminine, hourglass figure.
He considers it a compliment when people think that he's actually female.
"I think it's a real compliment when people think that I'm a female cosplayer because it means that my transformations must be convincing" he told The Daily Mail.
Each of the princess looks takes about 2 hours to complete.
His impressive makeup skills—along with the assortment of costumes, wigs, colored contacts and jewelry he owns—turn him into a near perfect replica of the princesses we know and love.
He's certainly the prettiest princess in all the land.
"Not only do I feel beautiful as a princess, but I feel even more beautiful when I'm just myself. The ball gown is just an added bonus," he said.
