Ellen DeGeneres Teases 'Finding Dory's' First Transgender Character
Who's ready for Sting-Ronda?
The "Finding Dory" opening is just days upon us, and from the looks of the trailer, it's well worth the thirteen-year long wait to get a sequel. While many fans are excited to revisit beloved characters Nemo and Dory, many are also praising Pixar for possibly incorporating LGBT characters into the film—a first for Disney and Pixar.
Ever since the "Finding Dory" trailer was released in May, people assumed the film would feature its first LGBT couple from this image.
People took to social media to express their excitement and celebrate this big step for Disney.
Ellen DeGeneres, who voices Dory, addressed the speculation of a lesbian couple in the movie in a recent interview.
While Disney Pixar has not commented on whether or not there's a lesbian couple in the movie, Ellen told USA Today:
"I don't mind the question and I don't know if it's true or not. I don't know if it is or if she just has a bad short haircut, you know? Who knows if she's a lesbian. Actually, I'll tell you a little secret. There is a stingray that is becoming sting-ronda, so there is a trans-sting in the movie."
SO, it appears that Ellen isn't giving away any spoilers and seemed to be joking—but let's just take a second and think about how COOL it would be if Disney Pixar really did introduce the first lesbian and transgendered CGI characters? Only time will tell whether or not we really will get to meet Sting-Ronda, but we can only imagine she would make a great component to Dory's squad.
"Finding Dory" hits theaters on June 17.
