Everything You Need To Know About The New 'Hey Arnold!' Movie
We're about to find out what happened to Arnold's parents.
If you were born in the '90s, you probably remember the classic show "Hey Arnold!"
It was hands-down my favorite cartoon as a preteen—mostly because of the dope characters, grown-up themes and great storytelling. Arnold, Gerald and company totally made me wish I was a city kid.
Well, I have good news for all you other "Hey Arnold!" lovers: Nickelodeon just announced there is officially a new feature-length "Hey Arnold!" movie in the works. I'm completely overwhelmed with nostalgia right now.
Obviously, people have been wanting more "Hey Arnold!" since the series ended in 2004.
Of course, "Hey Arnold!: The Movie" was released theatrically in 2002, but it was pretty unsatisfying to a lot of fans of the series. There just wasn't enough of the classic cartoon for most of us die-hard fans. We always want more!
We'll all be getting our wish soon enough: the new movie will be called "Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie," and is set for release in 2017.
The movie is set to be about two hours in length and is produced and written by Craig Bartlett, the series' creator. The movie will essentially be a continuation of the original series and will likely answer a lot of our long-standing questions about the show, "including Arnold finally getting answers about the whereabouts of his missing parents," according to Complex. Whoa. I thought we'd never know.
The movie will be made-for-tv, so you don't have to worry about shelling out a fortune for a movie ticket or making a trip to the theater. Ah, just like when we were kids.
19 of the original voice cast members will be returning for the movie. Lane Toran, the original voice of Arnold, won't be reprising his role, but he *will* make an appearance.
Toran, who voiced Arnold for the first season before his voice changed, will be given a different role in the movie, as will Jamil Smith, the original voice of Gerald. According to Business Wire, there are 19 other original cast members returning—including the voices of Helga, Harold, Rhonda, Olga and Grandpa, among others. So much nostalgia right now.
Needless to say, everyone is stoked about the new movie.
Let's hope it lives up to our (very high) expectations!
We can't wait until 2017!
