It's the site of a gruesome 1974 crime scene.

Would you live in a house that allegedly possessed someone to kill their entire family?

On the outside, this looks like a beautiful, well-kept Dutch Colonial home fit for any large family looking to settle down in the suburban neighborhood of Amityville, New York.

But on the inside, one of the most vicious, bone chilling crimes of the decade occurred—the creepy abode was just put on the market.

Ronald DeFeo Jr. committed a crime that shocked America in the 70's. The story has inspired several chilling books and movies.

In the wee hours of the morning on November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered his six family members.

The 23-year-old shot and killed his parents and four siblings in their large six-bedroom home located in a quaint, quiet suburban neighborhood in Amityville, New York. According to Zillow that big, beautiful home is now up for sale at the asking price of $850,000.

The house was listed in 2010 for $1.15 million.

Apparently, the gruesome notoriety of the home is causing it to lose some of its value.

The home has had four owners since the murders, none of them moving for reasons related to the gory past—except for George and Kathy Lutz.

The couple moved in December 1975 with their three children, and after living in the home for just 28 days the family left the house, claiming to have been terrorized by paranormal phenomena while living there.

In 1977 author Jay Anson penned the tragedy with his book "The Amityville Horror: A True Story."

Anson was introduced to the Lutz's who submitted 45 hours of tape-recorded commentary on their experience living in the home which was used as the basis of the book.

The book has sold an estimated ten million copies, and inspired a continuation of books written by John G. Jones.

"The Amityville Horror" movie was released in 1979.

The film, based off Anson's novel, was fairly successful. The three succeeding "Amityville" films were released in theaters, while the fourth was made for television by NBC.

Since then dozens of remakes have been made over the last 30 years. Most recently, "The Amityville Playhouse" and "Amityville Death House" were plot variations of the original released in 2015.

The latest film adaptation "Amityville: The Awakening" is set to be released in 2017.

Perhaps the next "Amityville" film will inspire homeowners to bid on the scene of the crime?

You can find the Amityville house listed on Zillow.

The home is casually listed on Zillow as a "stately center hall colonial" located on the Amityville River. It mentions a two car garage, living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room and heated sun room, but makes no mention of what happened there in 1974.

Maybe the fifth owner will be someone who has never heard the Amityville story, and hopefully they won't hear the house telling them to massacre their family.

Here's hoping whoever decides to make 108 Ocean Avenue their new home isn't prone to paranormal activity.
