Bacon Addicts: We Found Your Dream Job But You Need To Act Fast
Ah yes, this strip of bacon has notes of AMAZINGNESS!
If you're in the grunt of the job search and you think you'll NEVER find the job for you, think again, because ExtraCrispy just announced they're hiring a Bacon Critic.
That's right, your ideal job could involve critiquing, curating and of course tasting that most wonderful of foods: BACON.
We've all heard about wine critics and their snobbery.
And Food Network seems to be the number one hirer of food critics. The title "critic" invokes images of Gordon Ramsay cursing the day a particularly bland muffin was created, or basically solely negative opinions about food, wine, etc.
Now you might be saying to yourself "But I love bacon! I could never find anything negative about it!" Well, you might be the PERFECT person for the job.
Despite the title of Critic, the job should really be called "Bacon Enthusiast." Extra Crispy, a food website, needs a bacon critic to be someone who is passionate about bacon and is able to write about that passion for their website.
But what qualifies an "Extra Crispy Bacon Critic"?
According to the online description: "The Extra Crispy Bacon Critic needs to be opinionated and thorough in his or her research, and will be expected to eventually decide which bacon is the best in the country. Other qualifications include serious writing chops, an unmistakable voice, a sense of adventure, and an insatiable hunger for bacon."
How does one get this coveted Bacon Critic position?
If you see this job and think "This has me written ALL over it!" Then sit yourself down and write a 600 word essay about, obviously, BACON. Specifically, the application involves you writing about your favorite bacon based memory. This part of the application will show that you're more than qualified to write about bacon for this 3 month freelance position.
You might be stumped, but remember: this is your DREAM job!
Here are some wonderful bacon memories to jog your mind!
Your essay could be about the first time you tried bacon.
Whether you first tasted its crispy goodness when you were an adult or as a baby, your first memories of bacon are special and unique.
Perhaps your bacon memory is about a time when you tried a particularly adventurous form of bacon.
You could talk about what made the bacon product good or bad, showing off your EXCELLENT critiquing abilities.
If you've been especially creative with your bacon appreciation, you could write a bacon recipe that you CAN'T live without.
You could make some bacon onion rings, bacon ice cream sandwiches or even some sweet and salty bacon desserts! There are literally TONS of bacon recipes you can try, and then write comparisons showing off your knowledge of what pairs well with bacon.
Your application can include literally any positive memories about bacon, but you have to act fast!
Applications are due to Extra Crispy by June 24. Additional details can be found on the job description on their website. But go out there, write your bacon story and get that job!
