Simon Cowell Just Predicted This Preteen To Be The Next Taylor Swift
Grace VanderWaal is a small girl with a big voice.
"America's Got Talent" may have just found music's next biggest thing.
And music's next biggest thing is just 12-years-old. Tuesday night Grace VanderWaal walked on the "America's Got Talent" stage, Ukulele in tow, wearing bright yellow pants and an even brighter smile—no one expected what would happen next.
When Simon Cowell asked the mini-powerhouse if she thought she could win, Grace responded with, "I mean miracles can happen, so, possibly."
"I'm going to sing an original," she told the judges right before stealing the show, and our hearts.
As Grace was finishing her song, Howie Mandell reached over and pressed the "Golden Buzzer" eliciting golden confetti and tears everywhere.
The Golden Buzzer, introduced in season 9 of AGT, automatically sends the act to the next round, regardless of the other judges' votes. Season 10 upped the ante and sent acts straight to the live show.
Currently in season 11 Grace VanderWaal is only the second contestant to prompt judges to use the Golden Buzzer. The first contestant was 13-year-old opera singer Laura Bretan.
Is there something in the junior high water fountains that's turning these preteens into powerhouses?
Watch Grace VanderWow the audience with her adorable, powerful, mesmerizing performance.
The unbelievable performance not only merited tears everywhere, but also a hug from the known germaphobe judge Howie Mandal.
Grace was right, miracles really do happen.
It looks like Grace and Taylor have more in common than their Anna Wintour-esque bobs.
Is it the original, heart wrenchingly relatable music? The effortless mastery of the guitar? Or perhaps the voice strong enough to crank out an instant hit?
We think it's a combination of all three that makes Simon Cowell's Taylor Swift comparison more accurate than an SNL skit's take on the 2016 election.
Let's just hope the Taylor Swift comparisons stop at dancing.
We can only handle so many of these awkward, adorkable moves—hopefully Grace doesn't contribute to the Gif-able madness.
We won't see Grace again until the "America's Got Talent" live show premieres later this summer.
Until then, we're playing her dazzling performance on loop and hoping the 12-year-old superstar keeps writing heartfelt music, playing her Ukulele, and killing the junior high talent show while wearing those awesome yellow pants.
