13 Ways To Make Ramen Classy AF
Elevate the dorm staple just a bit.
Ramen is one of my absolute favorite foods. I'm not talking about the fancy ramen you get at a nice Japanese restaurant or a hip food truck (though those are pretty great too). No, I'm talking about good old fashioned ramen that you get in bricks for a quarter a brick. It is such a simple and cheap meal that literally always hits the spot. Most of the time I just eat it as is, because I may technically be an adult, but I'm still lazy af. There are times, however, where I feel fancy af, and in those times, I like to fancy up my ramen, and thats where these meals come in.
1. Taco Ramen
Pretty simple, but adding a whole new flavor to the dorm favorite. Taco Ramen will only take you about 15 minutes, which is really just 10 addition minutes for making regular ramen, and we all have 10 extra minutes for something this delicious.
2. Crunchy Asian Ramen Noodle Salad
This salad is super similar to a recipe I learned when I was like, 12-years-old, and insisted on making for every potluck or BBQ my family dragged me to. It's a super simple way to use ramen noodles in a totally different way, and it's absolutely delicious and perfect for a summer day.
3. Chicken Noodle Omelet
That's right, you can even have ramen for breakfast! This omelet uses chicken ramen and of course eggs and is ready in under 10 minutes. Perfect for a quick breakfast in the morning, or if you're a breakfast for dinner person, this is a new way to have your first meal last.
4. Crunchy Ramen Snack Mix
If you're looking for a way to get more ramen into your snacks, and don't want to have soup as a snack (which like...why not?) this snack mix is the perfect solution. Real talk, I love just eating raw ramen noodles as a snack, so I don't know if I'd actually get this far, but if you can make it through breaking up the ramen without eating it, definitely give it a shot.
5. Ramen Grilled Cheese
I'm lactose intolerant and generally find cheese to be disgusting, so there's no way I would desecrate my ramen noodles this way, but I know that like, most normal people actually love cheese, so I'm sure normal people would love this one. I will say, I am into the idea of using the noodles as the bread for other sandwiches though, so maybe I'll give that a shot.
6. Cheeseburger Ramen Casserole
Another recipe that is ruining my sacred noodles with cheese...Again, I can't say I would enjoy this one, but I know what everyone else likes, so I'm sure people would love it.
7. Ramen Vegetable Stir Fry
Honestly, one of the uses for ramen noodles that make the most sense. This recipe uses broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli and carrots, but you can switch out whatever veggies you like to make it your own.
8. Chicken Thai Noodle Bowls
Another recipe that just makes a lot of sense. Change it up a bit by giving the ramen a Thai twist with these easy bowls with a delicious peanut sauce.
9. Broccoli Peanut Butter Ramen
Ok, you're probably thinking something along the lines of "peanut butter in my ramen!?" and that's understandable. But, using peanut butter is a great alternative to peanut sauce, and if you have ramen in your house, you probably also have peanut butter.
10. Spicy Shrimp and Saucy Guacamole Ramen Noodle Bowl
I'm sorry, guacamole with ramen? Have I died and gone to heaven? Because those two things sound absolutely perfect.
11. Kimchi Ramen Grilled Cheese
Another grilled cheese ramen mashup, but this time, we have the noodles inside the sandwich, which is definitely a unique take. Plus the addition of the kimchi adds an extra special something.
12. Swiss Sauce Marinated Chicken Thighs with Noodles and Ginger Topping
Ok, this one is just downright fancy. I don't know what it is, maybe the Swiss sauce? Or maybe the chicken thighs? Both of those things feel fancy to me. The noodles here are really just a side, and they're unseasoned, so they look kinda weird and naked, but hey, sometimes you gotta be fancy (and naked).
13. Ramen Gnocchi with Mushroom and Peas
I can practically hear both my Italian grandmothers screaming from their graves over this one. Gnocchi made from those weird noodles they were forced to serve me as a kid? It might seem crazy, but c'mon, how genius is that! The recipe is adapted from a meal Chef David Chang made in the first episode of "The Mind of a Chef." When a chef with a Michelin star rated restaurant uses ramen in his cooking, it really makes me feel better about all my life choices.
