17 Hilariously Bad DIY Fails
WHO WOULD THINK THESE WERE GOOD IDEAS?
One of the great things about the Internet is its educational power.
We can learn how to do just about anything by typing a phrase into Google. There are more amazing do-it-yourself (aka DIY) projects available to us than ever before. You can learn how to make your own deck, sushi, bike, avocado roses, canoes—basically just about anything craft, food or home improvement-related you can think of.
Sadly, just because these projects exist doesn't mean they are easy to execute. I mean, a lot of people try, but for every expertly crafted bird house, there are countless others that totally suck. The proliferation of DIY projects on blogs and websites also means that there are hundreds—possibly thousands—of completely pointless or laughably awful potential DIY projects for you to undertake. For a lot of these, you'll just be scratching your head and asking yourself, "WHY?"
1. 4,000 books as interior decoration
You're going to have a lot of visitors—just not the kind you probably want. Silverfish love old, musty books.
2. A bicycle made from a partition
One slip, and your balls will be pulverized.
3. An iPhone case... made of hot glue
WHY.
4. A hamster wheel standing desk
For when a cubicle isn't isolating enough.
5. This homemade "minimalist" clock that has nothing but an hour hand
It's utterly useless.
6. A skateboard with grass for griptape
Basically defeats the whole purpose of griptape.
7. A "drill bike"
There's an endless list of potential injuries this could cause. Plus, the bike will go much slower than if it were pedaled.
8. The makeshift "safety guard" on this mower
I guess in some sense it is a "safety guard"—it will very likely guard you against being safe.
9. This pimped-out ride
Pretty much the Frankenstein's monster of cars.
10. The hat this guy tried to knit
Maybe he's actually just covering up an enormous penis growing out of the back of his head.
11. This rainbow nail polish "hack"
Honestly, it looks like you have fungus growing out of your nails.
12. This attempt at automotive repair
You can barely tell the accident ever happened!
13. This attempt to replace part of a staircase
Laziness level: 1000.
14. This homemade alternative to a stove
Creative, yes. Smart, no.
15. This experiment with sushi
I don't think I've ever seen something more unappetizing.
16. This extremely bulky speaker stand
Seamlessly fits right in with the room.
17. This cost-effective tailgate fix
A door's a door, right?
In summation, it might be best to leave the DIY projects to the professionals.
