Wildfires can be absolutely devestating, and the recent fire in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska was no exception. Sometimes in the face of devestation, however, people can rise up and do something heroic, and it's magical. That's what happened when the Alaska firefighters found an unexpected little group that needed their help during the fire.
When the rest of their pack fled from the fire, five little wolf pups were left behind.
The firefighters immediately decided to take action and gathered up the pups, bringing them to safety.
Firefighter Jefferson Sam told the KTUU television network that he felt like they had to-- the pups were helpless, after all.
One pup left the area the group was hiding in and seemed to be out looking for help... the firefighters thought she had to be the smartest of the group.
The pups were able to get proper care from a zoo in Anchorage...and the firefighters got these adorable photos!
