Is The Pope The World's Largest Beauty Vlogger Fan?
He believes the internet is a "gift from God."
We all have our idols.
YouTube personalities and vloggers are quickly becoming household names and nearly everyone in the world is taking notice. Beauty gurus are among the most popular, with growing legions of followers who look to them for tips and tricks everyday.
Even His Holiness Pope Francis, who met with 12 Internet influencers on May 29, is feeling the admiration. During their discussion he shared that he loves beauty gurus just as much as you do, but he's impressed by much more than their contouring skills and sharp winged liner. 🙏🏻
Pope Francis recently met with a group of YouTubers to talk about the importance of their digital influence
Although, he's previously described himself as a "tech dinosaur," His Holiness actually expressed a fondness for Internet personalities. The group of 12 vloggers met with him for 50 minutes at the Vatican to discuss various topics.
Among the attendees was beauty and fashion YouTuber Dulce Tejeda, a seven-year vlogging veteran whose channel, Dulce Candy, has amassed a following of more than 2 million subscribers
Pope Francis encouraged Tejeda and the other attendees to use their influence to create communities based in positivity.
"You can create a virtual identity; you belong to this circle at least virtually. From that you can start taking a path of optimism and hope," he said.
British Beauty and lifestyle guru Louise Pentland, aka Sprinkle of Glitter, had a chance to chat with the Pope as well
Pentland brought the Pope a folder with a few heartfelt emails from subscribers as a gift to share the impact Internet communities actually have. She talked about the experience on her vlog channel, Sprinkle of Chatter.
The Pope offered words of wisdom to the comedy, education, lifestyle and gaming YouTubers but was especially inspired by those who worked in beauty.
"I am glad that you carry out the type of work you said, following the line of beauty, it's a great thing. To preach beauty and show beauty helps neutralize aggression," he said.
Maybe the world would be a better place if we all just watched a few more haul videos and makeup tutorials
They've got the holy seal of approval, after all.
