Justin Bieber Is Giving The World Exactly What We Don't Need—More Emojis
He's joining the emoji game tomorrow.
It seems as though Justin Bieber found a new "Purpose" in the form of emojis.
The Biebs has been having a hard time lately, so he's coping by doing crazy things like walking around Boston barefoot and refusing to take any more pictures with fans.
He's saying "Sorry" to fans by giving them a digital depiction of himself. Bieber posted an Instagram Wednesday of one of his very own emojis along with the caption "Friday @AppStore."
Who doesn't love a good emoji?
The first emoji Bieber posted to Instagram is exactly what we'd expect
The tattoo-clad, backwards hat wearing Bieber emoji is holding up a sign that says "No Photos."
At least from the first reveal of his emoji line we can say they accurately showcase Bieber's true self. This begs the question: why is it that celebrities are all jumping on the emoji train and riding it straight to your iPhone's keyboard?
Apparently, Drake is partially to blame for the marketing science behind the emoji craze
According to USA Today, the emoji effect stems from the success of Drake's "Hotline Bling" video.
Emily Morris, director of cultural insights at the branding company TruthCo., compared the marketing strategy of emojis to Drake's video.
"Drake knew it was going to be turned into memes, so he released it to fans and let them become shareholders and stakeholders in his image," she says. "They're releasing a celebrity brand and giving it to the fans."
Celebrities are all about branding themselves these days, and they're doing it for a reason.
Ever since Kimojis caught fire, several other celebrities cashed in on the trend
Moji Inc. founder Oliver Camilo, who worked on apps with Fetty Wap and Amber Rose, says it's a numbers game: celebrities can and are making a lot of money.
Fetty Wap has emojis
He should really have 1738 of them.
Amber Rose has her own emojis
Some of Future's emojis include friends like Drake and DJ Khaled
Maybe Bieber will make emojis with his friends, too?
We could see him making a pretty rad DJing Skrillex emoji, perhaps posed with Jusin in his Calvins? We wouldn't hate that.
Bieber emojis are available tomorrow on the app store, and we've got a feeling he's not going to be the last celebrity to cash in on the trend.
