'OITNB' Creator Has A New Woman-Powered Show And We Are Beyond Psyched
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!
Like 'OITNB,' but with glitter and spandex
Oh. My. Goddess. Netflix just announced a new female-driven series from Jenji Kohan, the creator of "Orange is the New Black" and "Weeds." "G.L.O.W."—which stands for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling—will be a comedy inspired by the popular professional wrestling troupe of the same name. And because it's set in the 1980s, the show will feature "big hair and body slams." We seriously cannot wait for the costume design; I predict my next Halloween costume inspiration.
Although casting and premiere dates have not yet been announced, we do know that there will be some amazing women behind the camera. In addition to Jenji Kohan, "G.L.O.W." co-creators include Liz Flahive of "Homeland" and Carly Mensch of "Nurse Jackie."
If you can't wait to binge watch these wrestling women, check out the award-winning documentary about the troupe titled "GLOW : The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling," released on Netflix in 2011.
