9 Celebrities You Totally Forgot Had Their Own Reality Shows
Just because they're famous doesn't mean they're interesting.
VH1, you could have just said no...
In the mid-00's, reality television was king. We tuned in weekly to see people get covered in bugs on 'Fear Factor.' We watched gay men tell straight men how to wear pastel blazers on 'Queer Eye.' We even acted like it was totally normal when suburban moms underwent multiple rounds of plastic surgery on 'The Swan.'
At a certain point, TV execs got lazy with the concepts and thought, why not just stick a camera on a famous person and see what happens? After the success of 'celeb-reality' shows like 'The Anna Nicole Show' and 'Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica' it was really anyone's game. Here are 9 of the most WTF celebs to have their own reality show.
50 Cent
You guys, did you know that 50 Cent hosted an 'Apprentice'-like reality show for aspiring rap moguls in 2008? With a title like '50 Cent: The Money and the Power,' how could it go wrong? Even better, the show was meant to be a "visual companion" to 50 Cent's book on Machiavellian strategy 'The 50th Law.'
Danny Bonaduce
Before there was 'Breaking Bad,' there was 'Breaking Bonaduce.' What was with 2005's obsession with ' The Partridge Family '? We watched as this once chubby-cheeked child star wrecked his life through drug abuse, frighteningly overzealous bodybuilding, and monstrous fights with his now ex-wife.
Kevin Hart
Back in 2007, beloved comedian Kevin Hart got in on the celeb-reality craze with the short-lived VH1 show 'Celebrity Rap Superstar.' Hart hosted the show while rappers like DMC, Da Brat, and Big Boi judged 'celebs' like Kendra Wilkinson as they tried (and failed) to become rap superstars.
Andrew Dice Clay
I'm pretty sure no one in 2007 was thinking, "man, I really miss the misogynist comedic stylings of Andrew Dice Clay." And yet, VH1 took a chance and aired seven episodes of 'Dice: Undisputed,' a documentary-style reality show about Dice's kinda sad life.
Eddie Griffin
Many celebs do reality shows just for the cash; at least Eddie Griffin was very up front about it. In 2009's 'Going For Broke,' Griffin opens up his life to the public during what seems like a very difficult time. His finances are a wreck and he's supporting multiple family members while also taking money from his mother, who has just moved in with him.
Scott Baio
If you weren't a teen in the 1980s you probably have no idea who Scott Baio even is. But in 2008, the 'Charles in Charge' star let us all into his life with 'Scott Baio Is 45...And Single.' Besides the A+ title, this VH1 show featured a 'High Fidelity' style storyline in which Scott went around to all of his ex-girlfriends asking where he had gone wrong.
Scott Baio...again?
A year after his first VH1 show, Scott Baio was back at it again with 'Scott Baio Is 46 & Pregnant.' In a curveball move from the first show, Scott proposed to his on-again-off-again girlfriend Renee who revealed she was already pregnant. Ripe material for a B-list celeb-reality show.
Pepa
In 2010, Sandra Denton, AKA Pepa of Salt-n-Pepa, was just another gal in NYC looking for love. As far as I can tell, 'Let's Talk About Pep' was just 8 episodes of Pepa and friends going out to dinner. Probably riveting.
Ashlee Simpson
Maybe this one isn't a huge surprise since Ashlee Simpson was definitely a thing in 2004. But in 2016, I had totally forgotten that she existed. As a young viewer of the show, I identified with her little-sister-trying-to-make-a-name-for-herself storyline, but in retrospect I wonder why any of us tuned in to watch Ashlee eat breakfast and dye her hair.
OJ Simpson
What?! Yes. In 2006, the football-star-turned-accused-murderer hosted a 'Punk'd'-style reality prank show called 'Juiced with OJ Simpson.' After pretending to sell a white Bronco with great "escapability," OJ would clue his subjects into the joke by shouting "You've been juiced!" Could there be a "Juiced 2: Prison Edition?"
