Trump Wants To Debate Sanders For $10 Million, Give Money To "Something"
We would tune in for this.
Last night Jimmy Kimmel hosted a very special guest, the one and only Donald Trump.
Kimmel opened the show with the kind of humor anyone who isn't a Trump supporter would appreciate.
"Tonight, those of you watching at home will have the rare opportunity to see Donald Trump on television," Kimmel said.
The two burned through a series of topics from trans bathroom laws to potential contenders for Trump's VP slot. The standout conversation of the night pertained to the debate we all want but never saw coming.
According to The Daily Beast, Trump agreed to debate Bernie prior to the June 7 California primary for charity.
Sanders responded to Trump's debate proposal on Twitter with a confident "game on" retort.
Apparently this whole thing started with a letter Sanders wrote to Trump.
"Hillary Clinton backed out of an agreement to debate me in California before the June 7th primary. Are you prepared to debate the major issues facing our largest state and the country prior to the California primary?" Sanders wrote.
Trump responded last night on Kimmel with a resounding yes followed by, what else, a question about money.
"How much is he going to pay me? Because if I debated him, we would have such high ratings and I think I should take that money and give it to some worthy charity. If he paid a nice sum for a charity I would love to do that," Trump said.
Right, charity.
Twitter was abuzz with feelings about the potential debate.
But not so fast. According to CBSN, Trump's people said the whole thing was a "joke."
CBSN reported today that the Trump campaign revealed that the Trump-Sanders debate was meant to be a joke, and that it would not be happening.
Maybe Trump is just scared of the bird summoning, wedding proposal helping 74-year-old Sanders? Honestly, we think Sanders could kick some serious Trump ass both on and off the debate stage.
Whatever his reason for backing down we think Trump's got a pretty strange sense of humor because this debate would've been "yuge."
Trump said he is willing to debate for charity, namely "women's health issues or something."
Despite conflicting reports, USA Today confirmed Trump still does want to debate Bernie. He announced this while speaking in Bismark, North Dakota on Thursday.
"...he's a dream" Trump said of Sanders. Trump stated he would do the debate for "something over $10 million."
Trump also has a plan for where the money will go. He wants the money to "maybe" go towards "women's health issues or something."
Here's an idea, maybe Trump can get behind women's health issues and educate himself about those issues before debating Sanders?
Or something.
