'This Is Us' Is The New Show That Will Have You Feeling All Kinds Of Things
Get ready for the feels.
Every May the TV networks gather to reveal their fall schedules and give advertisers and journalists a first look at the new shows coming out later that year. This year one of the highlights was "This Is Us" a new drama on NBC that follows the life of a group of people who all turn 36 at the start of the series. The trailer for the show hit 15 million views in 48 hours, shattering a record hold previously by "Legends of Tomorrow" which got 4.1 million views in the same time frame. Now, the trailer is up to 60 million views, and while some of those might have to do with Milo Ventimiglia being practically naked, a decent number of them are certainly because the show looks incredible.
The show is getting compared to "Parenthood," another emotionally devastating show that aired on NBC, and for good reason. Both shows follow a big group of people and just like "Parenthood," "This Is Us" seems to focus on the small moments in life.
The trailer starts out with much more of Milo Ventimiglia than we ever saw in "Gilmore Girls."
YUP! There's his butt, right there on network TV. TBH, I could make this whole article about this gif, but let's look at the rest of the trailer.
Milo is married to a VERY pregnant Mandy Moore, who is about to have triplets.
We're also introduced to Kate who is struggling with her weight as she turns 36.
We also meet Randall, also turning 36.
We also meet Kevin, who is bemoaning turning 36, though his purely platonic friends assure him he doesn't look it.
Of course not every birthday turns out great, and this is no exception...
Rebecca (Mandy Moore) ends up having issues with labor and she and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) end up losing one of the triplets. Randall ends up finding his father who left him when he was born and confronts him. Jack ends up quitting his job as an actor on a TV show.
It's not a bad birthday for everyone though. After Kate throws out the junk food she has and visits a support group, she meets the super sweet Toby.
The pair has possibly the most adorable exchange of the trailer;
Toby: Hi, wanna be fat friends?
Kate: I can't fall for a fat person right now.
Toby: I guess I'll lose the weight then...
Awwww!
There's a whole lot more that happens in the trailer, and we can't wait for the show to premier!
"This is Us" will be on Tuesday nights on NBC this coming fall. In the meantime, watch the trailer on YouTube.
