Frozen Pudding Is Definitely Going To Replace Ice Cream This Summer
I scream, you scream, we all scream for...pudding!
One afternoon, food stylist Hannah Canvasser made too much banana pudding and her boyfriend and food writer, Jason Kessler, recommended they freeze it for a unique new snack.
And thus Little Spoon was born! They worked for months tweaking the flavor and consistency for the perfect frozen treat they're now doling out to the masses.
And while you may say you're partial to ice cream, you haven't heard the best part: when the frozen pudding "melts" it just becomes pudding, not a soupy disaster like ice cream!
They offer five delicious flavors: nana banana, campfire chocolate, caramel latte, coconut cream pie and brown sugar vanilla.
Jason told Dose he loves campfire chocolate because, as he says "he's a sucker for anything s'mores" and with rich chocolate pudding, graham crackers and baby marshmallows, I understand why. He says Hannah's partial to the original nana banana which is said to be even better than traditional Southern banana pudding.
Bonus: brown sugar vanilla is gluten free and coconut cream pie is vegan and gluten-free!
They're currently operating from a food cart in the LA area and "can't wait to see people lining up around the block to get their first taste of a frozen dessert that's not going to melt all over them" this summer.
But for all of us not lucky enough to live in California, they offer nationwide shipping of all their delicious flavors.
Head over here to order your own sampling of frozen pudding delivered right to your door.
And while Jason made it clear he wouldn't share their super-secret recipe for us to make on our own (there was a mention of a ferocious guard dog), there are a few frozen pudding recipes are floating around Pinterest.
And while little spoon's all-natural melt-free recipe stands as the reigning champion, this coffee frozen pudding is one decadent example.
Others just recommend throwing a popsicle stick in the pre-made cups and freezing them or making your very own fudgsicle pops.
This particular pudding pop recipe even uses the classic pudding tubes.
But no matter just how you enjoy it this summer, be sure to give frozen pudding a chance to be your sweet summer fling.
