18 of Your Favorite 90s Baby Dolls You Forgot About
You promised to love Leslie, your Baby Born doll forever, but she's probably in some dusty storage tupperware under the basement stairs right now
1. Water Baby
You opened up the plug in the back of it's neck, filled it with water and it jiggled like a real baby! Some of may us have chewed on our baby's feet, because that rubber just felt nice on the gums, ya know?
Sidenote: Our water babies were naked more often than not.
2. My Pretty Mermaid
These gals made bath time a hoot.
3. Fairy Winkles
These were tiny adorable fairies which came with various sets to hide and play in. If you were a spoiled kid you had all four sets: the flower (aka the king of sets), the shell compact, the perfume bottle and the mirror swan. Mostly commonly they enjoyed hiding in the couch cushions or under the fridge, which is where they remain to this day.
4. Baby All Gone
You watch her eat and drink with your own two eyes! When you spoon-fed Baby All Gone or gave her her bottle, you really felt the weight of motherhood on your shoulders. Her life was totally in your hands.
5. Sally Secrets
Sally Secrets was like Inspector Gadget, but for crafting. Badass stickers jetted from her belly and her shoes hid a roller stamp and ink pad.
We ate ALL the chicken nuggets from our happy meal when McDonalds came out with a Sally Secrets hole punch toy. The bottoms of her feet created heart and star-shaped punches!
6. Miss Party Surprise
Inside these Marie Antoinette enthusiast's gowns lay a world of fun. Miss Party Surprise dolls used their style to cleverly hide an entire play set of themed accessories. There were several sets produced in the 90s, including an ice creamery-themed-surprise and one doll that kept an entire bowling under there.
7. Cupcake Dolls
Cupcake Dolls were the poor man's Strawberry Shortcake. A faux cupcake flipped out into a doll and the wrapper became the skirt of her dress. The frosting became a weird bonnet/asian conical hat.
8. L'il Miss Mermaid
She changed color in the water and sang a tune creepy little tune.
9. Kitty, Kitty, Kittens
Aggressively pet their heads around they actually purred! You had at least two.
10. Baby Born
Baby Born dolls were the ultimate form of LIT. If you had this doll, little girls flocked to your basement to play. SHE PISSED! You got all excited to see if she had soiled her diaper, eager to change it out. She also wizzed in the toilet sometimes—an impressive accomplishment for a newborn. She never pooped, which was just weird, but she did make tears!
11. Sky Dancers
These beautiful goddesses flew! Well, they almost flew. You''d yank the pull string attached to the doll's base and off she'd fly, into the air like a two second helicopter ride ending in a graphic crash.
12. Betty Spaghetti
She really didn't do much other than bend her arms and legs, but she had AMAZING hair.
13. Baby Tumbles Surprise
Baby Tumbles inspired our inner gymnast. Her head was a lot heavier than her body, so if you kind of...guided her head to the ground, she'd flip over.
14. Doodle Bear
Finally something 3-D you could draw on.
15. Polly Pocket
There were approximately one billion versions of Polly Pocket, each setting more wonderful than the next. She had a beach house, a ski lodge, a water park, a school—the list goes on and on.The attention to detail was truly impressive. God knows where Polly and her Pals are today, but we enjoyed hours of comparing Polly sets with friends.
16. Puppy/Kitty Surprise
Our pals at Hasbro got that we were all very curious about reproduction, so they created both, Puppy and Kitty Surprise. They really didn't explain much other than the general area where babies come from. They come straight of the belly button, right? There was a slit in the mom's tummy where the babies just kind of...got shoved up and hid until you were ready for her to "give birth." When you wiped a cold washcloth on the babies eyes, they'd open.
17. Lil Miss Magic Jewels
Lil Miss Magic Jewels (who looks eerily similar to Honey Boo Boo on a pageant day), had a "magic wand" that applied jewels to all over her hair and body.
18. Lil Miss Magic Hair
She had a "magic hair brush" that changed her look from blonde bombshell, to wild rocker chick. You could stamp amazing rainbow hearts with the bottom of the brush. Very rock n' rock.
