Why Every Millennial Is About to Get An Amazon Prime Account
Cheaper than Postmates and quicker than GrubHub? Be still our lazy, cheap hearts.
You've heard it plenty of times: Millennials are lazy. Ever since companies cracked the code on this brilliant revelation, they've finally started making products that cater to our needy, idle lives.
And look, we're not exactly complaining.
Amazon recently revealed they're throwing their hats in the GrubHub ring with a new food delivery service that sounds almost too good to be true. Launching now in select cities across the US, the service promises delivery from tons of grocers and restaurants, guaranteed in an hour or less. All food will cost the same as it does at the eatery, and oh yeah, did we mention delivery is FREE?!
There's only one catch: you have to be an Amazon Prime member to reap the benefits (and to be honest, why aren't you already?). This just gives us another reason to not cook for ourselves—after all, we do spend most of our money on food delivery anyway.
I quickly tested the Prime Now app (for market research of course) and found at least three empanada places that deliver to my apartment.
If each empanada is $2.50 and restaurant delivery has a $20 minimum, how many empanadas must one girl order? The answer is all of the empanadas.
Prime Now also makes liquor runs a thing of the past.
How many times have you been too busy building a party playlist that you forget to buy the booze? Just me? Skip the trip to the local liquor store and let Amazon deliver all the booze you'll need for the night.
Need more? Deliver more. The power is in your hands.
The service is also kind of like your doding mother, in the best way possible.
And by that I mean, it will take care of you when you're panicking alone in your apartment. Recently, I got a really bad case of bronchitis and no one was able to help me get to a doctor. I used Prime Now to order cough medicine and treated myself enough so I could take an Uber to the urgent care.
Lazy? Sure. Smart? You betcha.
And that, my friends, is the true Millennial way.
