8 Fictional Characters You Never Knew Were Played By the Same Voice Artist

It happens all too often. You're watching a TV show or movie and you think: "I know that voice from somewhere." Chances are, the same voice actor playing a character in a show you're watching has played one of your favorite characters in a show, movie, video game or commercial. 

In some cases, that voice you hear may actually be playing multiple characters in whatever program you're watching. Sure, regular actors are very talented and can take on the persona of whatever character they're portraying, but voice acting uses a special skill that is able to change between dialects, accents and inflations of the voice. 

In other words: voice actors are so badass. They're silent heroes — always playing our favorite television cartoon characters and rarely receiving the proper recognition they deserve. 

Voice actor Sterling Holloway is the original voice of Winnie the Pooh in the classic 1977 film "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" as well as the voice of the Cheshire Cat in the animated, 1951 version of "Alice in Wonderland." 

If you're a huge Disney fan, you may also recognize Holloway's voice in the films "Bambi," "Dumbo," "The Jungle Book" and "The AristoCats."

Actor Tom Kenny voiced Dog from "CatDog" from 1998 to 2005 and is currently reprising his role as The Mayor in "The Powerpuff Girls" reboot.

In the mean time, Kenny has been voicing characters such as "SpongeBob SquarePants," Doctor Octopus on "Ultimate Spider-Man" and the Ice King on "Adventure Time."

In other words, Tom Kenny is one busy man.

Like Tom Kenny, Tara Strong is extremely busy, having lent her voice to some of the most popular animated characters on television. 

In addition to Timmy Turner and Raven, Strong has played Bubbles on "The Powerpuff Girls," Dill Pickles in "Rugrats" and Ingrid Third on Disney's "Fillmore!"

Before she played Gretchen Wieners in "Mean Girls," Lacey Chabert played our animal-loving heroine Eliza Thornberry from "The Wild Thornberrys." 

While filming the Nickelodeon show, she also lent her voice to "Family Guy," but left after the first season to focus on her schoolwork and other acting opportunities. 

Chabert was then replaced by Mila Kunis. 

Between the years 1990 and 2008, Kath Soucie played both Phil and Lil DeVille in the hit shows "Rugrats" and "All Grown Up!" While filming, Soucie also played Helga's ditzy mom, Miriam on "Hey Arnold!" 

Recently, Soucie lent her voice to Disney's "Zootopia" as a young Nick Wilde. 

In "Tiny Toon Adventures," Cree Summer played the annoying (yet lovable) school nurse at Acme Looniversity that's obsessed with all things animals. In "Atlantis: The Lost Empire," Summer plays a badass warrior princess.

Over the years, Summer has lent her voice to numerous cartoon characters such as Susie Carmichael from "Rugrats," mean girl Miranda from "As Told By Ginger" and Numbah 5 from "Codename: Kids Next Door."

In the Nickelodeon version of "Doug," the title character and his bully were played by the same voice artist, Billy West. Can you imagine West bullying himself in the recording studio? That had to have been awkward.

West also played Fry for the entirety of "Futurama" as well as Stimpy in "The Ren & Stimpy Show." 

Being the most mind-blowing character connection on this list, puppeteer and actor Frank Oz is the original voice for both Miss Piggy and Yoda. Imagine if Miss Piggy was as wise as master Yoda.

Oz also acted as a puppeteer for "Sesame Street," voicing the characters Cookie Monster and Bert.
