The One Food This Guy Demanded After Waking Up From A Coma Makes Him A Hero
He quiero Taco Bell.
This is Jake Booth, Army vet, father, brother and Taco Bell Super Fan.
In February, the 35-year-old had bronchitis that turned into double pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital, where he fell into a coma. This Week in Taco Bell (which, yes, is a real column in the sports section of USA Today) reports that family and friends were unsure when or if he would ever wake up—and if he did, how much brain damage he'd suffer.
However, Jake did wake up, and his first words? "I want Taco Bell."
After 48 days in the coma, he woke up, recognizing both of his kids and the rest of his family. He had trouble speaking, but once he was able to put the words together, he let everyone know what he wanted. Unfortunately for Jake, he had to wait another three weeks before he could actually eat solid food, so it would be a bit longer before he could get his Taco Bell fix.
Taco Bell heard about his request, and sent some swag to tide Jake over until his doctors allowed him to consume solid food again.
Jake's brother, Jason, set up a GoFundMe for Jake's medical expenses and wants people to realize that even though his brother is awake and chowing down on tacos, he still has a long way to go before he's back to "normal."
