This Is The Android/Human Love Story Marvel Hinted At In 'Civil War'
Just get them together!
Spoilers for "Captain America: Civil War" ahead.
The third movie in the Captain America franchise (or the third movie in the Avengers franchise, if you're going by the characters involved) had a lot going on, but one of the best parts was the budding romance between two characters who, while together in the comics, I never expected to see together on screen.
This is Vision:
He's a very powerful (and intelligent) android who was brought to life from Tony Stark's AI in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron.' He likes to walk through walls and try to cook even though he doesn't have to eat to survive. He is also a sweater enthusiast.
This is Scarlet Witch:
Her name is actually Wanda Maximoff. She and her (now dead) twin brother, Pietro, were experimented on and given some pretty cool powers. (That's the story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least—in the comics they're Mutants, but Disney/Marvel Studios don't have rights to Mutants, so here we are.) Wanda has telekinetic, telepathic and energy manipulation powers.
They're both pretty badass, and probably the most powerful members of The Avengers at the moment.
In 'Civil War' they both want to be human. Vision has to learn how to interact with people on a more "normal" level (aka, not walk through the wall into a room, even if the door is open) and tries to learn about the Life Stone, which gives him sentience.
Wanda, on the other hand, has more obvious struggles. After a botched operation in Lagos, where she is ultimately responsible for the death of multiple people, she realizes just how powerful she can be, and how scary that is to other people.
The pair bond over their desire to be more human, which makes sense since...
In the comics, they're actually married!
Yup, the Mutant (enhanced human) and the android are married, and even have kids (they're conceived through magic, because comic books.)
The pairing makes a lot of sense when you think about: They're both outsiders, even within the Avengers.
While it's been cannon in the Comic Books that they're married for more than 40 years, I wasn't sure if they'd actually get together in the MCU.
Are moviegoers ready for a human/android relationship? Judging from their interaction in 'Civil War,' apparently we are.
Unfortunately for the love birds, they ended up on opposite sides of the titular Civil War.
Scarlet Witch even took down Vision when he got in her way, and took him down HARD.
That didn't stop Vision from running to her side after she got knocked down. Unfortunately that distracted Vision (a moment of human emotion, so that's something!) and caused him to do some major harm to a member of his team.
The pair likely won't be in another film together until 'Avengers: Infinity War Part 1,' which doesn't come out until May of 2018...
By then, hopefully Vision can forgive Wanda for what she did to him, and she can come out of hiding and they can be together in human/android bliss.
