Watching Skydivers Play Quidditch Is As Close To The Real Thing As It Gets
Catching the Snitch is even harder at 30,000 feet.
Quidditch has come a long way in the last few years. College teams across the country will descend upon South Carolina for the 8th Quidditch World Cup this year. When it comes to the most popular sport in the wizarding world, one thing is clear: Potter fans want to put broomsticks between their legs and chase snitches.
While the tremendous growth of a sport derived from a beloved childhood book series is an awesome sign that nerds will ultimately inherit the earth, "Muggle Quidditch" is a bit of a disappointment compared to the high-flying sport in the books.
Fortunately, Colombian telecommunications company ETB recruited a team of skydivers to elevate the sport to new heights. Literally.
With a level of badass flair that can only be achieved after you jump out of a plane, these intrepid air surfers played a game of Quidditch while skydiving.
*Cue intense fangirling*
For real, though, this is the closest we Muggles have come to recreating real Quidditch. And it's intense.
Can I get a comparison? Here's the Quidditch we love from the movies....
Give one of these dudes a lightning bolt scar and a Nimbus 2000 and you'd hardly be able to tell the difference.
Not to mention that ETB's attention to detail will please fans of the series to no end.
The best part is now it's only gonna be a matter of time before you can add a "Quidditch Package" to your next skydiving outing.
That's something even a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher can get behind.
