Your 10 Favorite Female TV Characters Have Been Recast Into New Dynamic Duos
It's the ultimate friend remix.
Nothing displays the true complexity of female friendships quite like the multi-layered lives of our favorite television characters. The heightened drama of Hollywood makes finding loyal female friends seem nearly impossible. But there are a few dynamic duos out there who — despite having their friendships tested — have proven that real friend love totally does exist.
In order to make the struggle of finding lady friends a little easier, we're reimagining the friendships of some of your favorite female characters. If these iconic women lived in a different TV universe, who would be their ride-or-die BFF? These new pairings will show you how your favorite gals would fare in entirely new situations and who they'd claim as the Thelma to their Louise. 👯
Rory Gilmore, "Gilmore Girls" and Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson, "Orange Is The New Black"
If Rory went to Litchfield, she'd definitely spend a lot of her time in the library, where she'd inevitably meet Taystee. They'd bond over their massive knowledge of books and complicated relationships with their mothers. They'd share stories of all the times their naivete got the best of them and Taystee would show her the ropes around the jail. Now, all we need is for Rory to commit a mass homicide at her next DAR meeting.
Serena van der Woodsen, "Gossip Girl" and Shane McCutcheon, "The L Word"
If Serena left behind NYC's Upper East Side for greener, gayer pastures in LA, she and Shane would make the best of friends. Serena's magnetic personality makes her the perfect wingwoman for Shane. Neither could judge the other for being a promiscuous commitment-phobe since they're both cut from the same cloth. Shane would become Serena's personal hairstylist (v important) and flirt with her relentlessly.
Abbi Abrams, "Broad City" and Cosima Niehaus, "Orphan Black"
If Abbi Abrams lived in the confusing world of "Orphan Black," she'd make the perfect lab assistant for the brainy Cosima. Her type-A personality would make her a dedicated helper. She'd handle her first meeting with the clones with humor rather than terror — helping Cosima to see the lighter side of her dark situation.
Abbi's ride-or-die spirit would make her the perfect person to assist with covert clone missions, especially any activities that Cosima would be uninterested in taking on herself. The two would spend their weekends smoking weed and having dance parties in Felix's loft.
Emily Fields, "Pretty Little Liars" and Laurel Castillo, "How to Get Away With Murder"
Emily's PLL storyline continues to take a dark turn, but in this fantasy matchup it gets even darker. If she lived in the intense world of "How To Get Away With Murder," she wouldn't be a part of the Keating 5, but she'd use her experience with "A" to help the crew out.
She and Laurel would find common ground, since they're always searching for answers. With Emily filling the role of private investigator, they'd bond over late nights spent studying legal briefs and somewhat legally acquired evidence. Neither are strangers to relationship drama, so they'd have each other to turn to each other to vent their frustrations. She'd balance out Laurel's competitive side by teaching her to channel her fierce nature into sport. They'd unwind and escape by taking summer road trips to the West Coast.
Shoshanna Shapiro, "Girls" and Jess Day, "New Girl"
Shoshanna and Jess would've met at childhood summer camp. After being sent to a crafting cabin for refusing to participate in any physical activities, the chatty brunettes would bond over their love of crafts and various neuroses. They'd reconnect as adults in one of LA's pressed juice cafes (where Shosh eventually settles after her time in Japan) to discover that after rough breakups, they've both made an effort to take more risks.
Jess would invite Shoshanna over to her apartment to meet the guys and she'd silently disapprove of all of them. Then they'd head out for sushi and talk over each other while discussing their exciting summer plans — Shoshanna's going on another international travel adventure and Jess is planning the DIY projects for the "Around the World" themed classroom decor she'll get to put up in the fall.
