10 Times MADtv Defined Sketch Comedy, Just In Time For The Revival
Fingers crossed Bon Qui Qui is coming back, too.
MADtv was my introduction to sketch comedy. It taught me how funny people can be, how funny I'm not and that there was comedy outside of Disney Channel sitcoms.
The hilarious Emmy-winning sketch series that ran for 15 years will be returning with eight hour-long episodes on the CW, with original cast members (think Keegan-Michael Key, Debra Wilson, Ike Barinholtz, Alex Borstein and Jordan Peele) hosting each episode. It will also bring in new up-and-coming comedic voices to keep us peeing our pants a little bit.
Just like the original late-night series, the eight hour-long primetime episodes will feature MadTV s signature pop-culture parodies. Until the premiere date is officially announced, I've got my fingers crossed the revival nods to these 10 iconic sketches.
1. When we were blessed with "Sluts and the City"
2. When we were introduced to the iRack
3. When the 'Black Eyed Peas' had a take on the 2005 financial slump
4. When Lorraine went to the dentist
5. When Coach Hines was v displeased with "Oliver Twist"
6. When "R. Kelly" sang about cereal
7. When the ladies starred in their own burlesque video
8. When these bros had a realization
9. When Derrell and Ivonne went to the movies
10. And of course, when Bon Qui Qui called "sec-yurity"
