Hamburger Helper's Mixtape Is Exactly What Rap Music Was Missing #WatchTheStove
Parental Advisory: Delicious Content
Hamburger Helper has released a mixtape.
That is not a typo.
Yes, this is an April Fools' Day joke, but here's the thing: it's actually 🔥 🔥🔥
The 5-track mixtape was released Friday April 1, and as of 5pm, they have more than 315,000 listens on SoundCloud.
My personal favorite is "Feed the Streets" which features the sounds of a stove and timer behind such masterfully topical lyrics as: "I want tacos, enchiladas, I want pasta and lasagna / Boy I've got too many flavors, you may have thought it was catered."
To an inexperienced listener like myself, it sounds pretty much like every other rap song, except with lots more beef and noodles.
Although I do wish there was a track of rhythmic farts playing under the bridge, to make the listening experience more authentic.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE: General Mills also shot two music videos for the mixtape featuring the family-friendly "Lefty" glove cutting loose in the club.
#DropTheBeef
The project was a collaboration local Twin Cities artists and McNally Smith College of Music students.
Collaborators include Retro Spectro, Bobby Raps, DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip and Dexquexatron X000.
And the album dropped to rave reviews
Of course, it's instantly meme-d by the Internet
So even if it's been exactly 13 years since you indulged in Hamburger Helper, you better believe your grocery store will be out by the end of the night.
