7 Irrefutable Signs Your House Is Haunted And You Should Move Out
Is there a spirit haunting you? Know the signs.
1. You have the feeling you're constantly being watched by a spooky presence
Also called the "psychic staring effect," this sensation isn't all that uncommon. However, if the feeling constantly intensifies in one spot of your house, it probably means there's a ghost observing you.
Does your skin crawl every time you lounge on the couch? It could very well be a ghost. Spooky.
2. You've noticed your pets behaving strangely
Pets are often unpredictable in their behavior. If you've noticed yours becoming increasingly erratic, though, a ghost could be responsible.
Animals are finely tuned to nature, often responding to things we can't see. Animals have been known to exhibit anxiety at approaching storms and begin cowering even before thunder, rain and lightning begins. The same rules apply to pets and ghosts. Perhaps they see what we can't.
3. You've been hearing unexplained noises
The noises could range from eerie creaks to full-blown shrieks, banging or crying. This is one that I'm particularly afraid of. But how do you know those creaking floorboards are just signs of an old house, and not something much more sinister?
Unfortunately, there's really no way to tell. If you have suspicions about a particular, recurring noise, you can always contact some ghost hunters to check out your residence.
4. You've found that your doors and kitchen cabinets open and close mysteriously
Did you just leave the kitchen, go to the bathroom to pee, and return to the kitchen to find all the cupboard doors open? There's a good chance you're being haunted.
5. The lights flash on and off at random
Say you come home from work, and every single light in your house is on, though you're sure you switched them off before leaving that morning. Don't just go blaming your faulty memory—consider the possibility there's a spirit lurking around with something to tell you.
6. You've noticed physical evidence of a supernatural presence
Most often, this includes writing on pieces of paper or walls around your house. It can also include the presence of foot- or handprints not left by you or your family.
Often, if you see some writing on the wall and suspect it's the handiwork of your 3-year-old nephew and some Magic Markers, you're wrong. It's probably a ghost, trying its best to communicate directly with you.
7. You've noticed unfamiliar odors or unexplained smells
The "unfamiliar odors" are typically those of perfume or cologne that doesn't belong to you or your family. This sign of a ghost's presence will often accompany other signs.
If it's a somewhat friendly or harmless ghost that just has unfinished business, the smell will often be sweet or pleasant. However, if the smell is foul or rancid, you've likely got a murderous ghost lusting for blood on your hands. If that's the case, it's probably time to move out.
