Waffle House's Breakfast-Themed Songs Deserve All The Grammy Awards
In maybe our favorite news piece of 2016, Waffle House, the infamous restaurant chain known for its yellow awnings and criminal cases, revealed it's been working on a special side project for the past 30 years— producing original music. The songs are less like advertisements and more like fun mood music about their food and atmosphere, spanning a variety of genres, from doo wop to contemporary country. Tunes about road trips and breakfast food? Yes please!
"There Are Raisins In My Toast"
The title says it all. This doo wop number sounds a lot like the Franki Valley & The Four Seasons' hit, "Sherry."
"They're Cooking Up My Order"
This upbeat gospel song chronicles one woman's journey to breakfast. God bless.
"Waffle House For You And Me"
Oooh, this one is kind of sexy. Waffles à la Boyz II Men.
"Waffle House Steaks"
I didn't know Waffle House served steak, but now I do thanks to this old school bluegrass ditty that will definitley get stuck in my head.
"Saturday Night At My Place"
This song answers the age old question of rock and roll: if there's nothing on TV, why not go to Waffle House?
"Color Me Gone"
And last but not least, the road trip music video. If Carrie Underwood were sponsored by Waffle House (why isn't she?), this would be her magnum opus. Enjoy.
