A Giant Indoor Nickelodeon Theme Park Is Coming & We Might Pass Out
No word yet on whether or not you can get slimed.
Admit it: You’ve definitely tried (or succeeded in) dragging your parents to Orlando so you could get slimed in the Nickelodeon portion of Universal Studios. Well, ever since Nick Studios closed its doors in 2005, dreams have died. Nickelodeon Universe—an indoor theme park at the Mall of America— opened in 2008, but let’s be honest — Bloomington, Minnesota isn’t necessarily the most convenient location for a major theme park.
Kids (and kids at heart) not willing to take the trip to Bloomington will soon be able to enjoy the world of Nickelodeon IRL yet again. American Dream Meadowlands is a 3 million-square-foot mall (!!!) projected to open in New Jersey in 2018. Even better, it will be home to an indoor theme park featuring all things Nickelodeon.
The 8.5 acre (the largest in the Western hemisphere) indoor theme park will have rides themed around popular Nickelodeon shows, such as “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” No word yet if there’s going to be anything themed around any older Nick shows, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for a life-sized replica of Stoop Kid’s iconic stoop or Tommy’s infamous play pen. Also, who WOULDN’T want to get slimed OG style?
In addition to the theme park, American Dream Meadowlands will include a giant aquarium, a Legoland attraction and a 12-stories-tall ski slope. In other words, you should start planning your vacation now.
