Women Are Ditching Heavily Edited Photos Thanks to This Awesome Hashtag
Women are coming out from behind their edited photos and sharing what they really look like.
Facetune is a popular photo editing app used by more than 4 million people around the world.
Facetune is so popular because it allows you fix the tiniest details in your selfies. You can even out your skin tone, brighten your teeth and eyes, smooth out imperfections and generally give yourself the face you've always wanted.
The app is pretty popular among fashion and beauty bloggers, but doesn't give anyone a real idea of what you look like.
To be fair, Facetune does make you look pretty flawless, but it's hard to pretend like your confidence doesn't take a hit when everyone on your Instagram feed is an actual poreless goddess.
Now, women on social media have been taking a stand against using the app.
Facetune can definitely perpetuate an unrealistic image of women which can be really harmful for those who don't realize that the photos on their feed have been so heavily edited.
The #NoFaceTune hashtag is full of women showing off their unedited faces and it's totally awesome.
Some women using the hashtag are wearing makeup and others are sporting completely bare faces.
Some might argue that these photos, aren't really showing off natural beauty, but considering how dramatically FaceTune can alter your appearance, it makes a major difference.
What's your take on the #NoFaceTune debate?
Do you think showing off the best version of yourself is only truly possible with a little technical assistance? Or would you rather have your Instagram feed filled with people who look like real people?
