It's Finally Happening. The World's First Giant Robot Fight is This June
Your childhood dream of watching enormous robots pummel the crap out each other is coming true. Here's what you need to know.
Yes, America has built a giant, human-piloted fighting robot, and yes, it absolutely looks like something out of MechWarrior.
This childhood-dream-come-to-life is built by Oakland-based startup MegaBots. It's called the Mk II, and yes, it totally works.
Not only does it work. It's completely badass.
But that's just the start. Japan has built a giant fighting robot of their own dubbed "Kuratas."
It is ALSO totally fucking epic.
And you fire it's weapons by smiling like a deranged super-villain.
You see what I'm getting at here. The stage is clearly set for a showdown.
Because let's be real. We, as a race, do not deserve to have giant robots unless we're making them do this...
or THIS....
OR THIS. THIS WOULD BE COOL.
*Ahem* Provided of course, that no one gets hurt, because after all....
The good news is that back in June of 2015 the founders of MegaBots issued a challenge to the Suidobashi Heavy Industry, the creators of Kuratas. The terms? A duel, one year from the date.
They accepted.
Which means that in 3 short months THIS is gonna be happening, but for real.
I guess you could it's a matchup we really...ship.
Dad jokes aside, it's happening. If you aren't already picking sides and screaming with excitement, I recommend starting now.
Whose side are you on?
